My Favorite Festival

There is no doubt that my favorite festival is the Chinese traditional festival: spring festival. The very first reason is that we have our winter vacation for the spring festival, which means that we may have a long vacation for almost one month. We treat the spring festival as the most important festival in a year and celebrate it for about two weeks. On the evening before the spring festival, the whole family will get together to have a big meal. Family members who even live very far away from home will come back and join the dinner, because the festival is for getting together in some sense. We make dumplings together, actually we enjoy the process in making dumplings more than the dumplings themselves. During the dinner, we chat with each other and share our happiness and sorrow for the past year with the whole family. After the dinner, we make some fireworks and watch TV programs together. The first day of the lunar new year comes, we begin to visit our friends and relatives, and bring our best wishes to them, always, the older people will give some money to the younger ones in return, so children can get some money during the spring festival. I like spring festival, because it give the big family a chance to get together and talk with each other. I like the atmosphere where the whole family are together.

The strangest thing I have ever eaten

The strangest thing I have ever eaten may be the ant. Several years ago when I travel to some place in China, one of my father's friends invited us to a local restaurant which is famous there. After several dishes, there came a strange dish. There were a lot of samll black things on the plate, I was curious about those, so I asked the waiter. To my surprise, he said those are fried ants. I refused to eat them, but the uncle said that you must eat the food since you were here, otherwise, you could not say that you have ever been here. I have no choice but to have a try. It smelled very normal, just liked normal fried food, I picked several ants up and put them into my mouth. Actually, it tasted good, but since I remembered that it was ant, I did not feel good. I could not convince mtself to try it again even though it is eally very delicious.

A Scary Experience You Have Had

Last weekend, we went to the Scary Farm. I think I will never forget the experience ang will never want to be there again. As Halloween is coming, the park was decorated specially. When we arrived there, it was dark outside, the light in the park was not light enough that we could not see others' faces clearly. As it was my first time to participate in such an activity, I was very nervous. There were all kinds of strange sounds all over the patk, such as sound of the blowing wind and sound of ghosts. Suddenly, a very ugly ghost rushed to me with a very loud sound, he gave me a fright and I closed my eyes and shouted in Chinese that is something like "keep a distance of me or stop do that ", but the louder I shouted, the worse things was going. I ran away and he just ran after me until he found another girl who was also frighted by him and he turned to shouted at her. Then we went to a haunted house which was really very terrible. I was scared by the people who were hidden in the corner and junped out when you came to him. I was within an inch of crying and I sweared that I would never be there again.

My dream job

You may think it is strange that my dream job is to be an animal trainer, but it has been my dream work since I was a little girl. The very first reason is that I love animals so much. Dogs, cats, horses, lions and tigers are my favorite animals. I have raised dogs, fish, birds, rabbits and so on so far, I love all of them. Although they were just pets, they were treated as members of my family. I remember that when my first dog was lost, I was very sad and even could not sleep at night because I missed him so much. I like palying with animals, traning them some skills and talking to them. As a result, I want to be an animal trainer. Then I can stay with animals all the day. It is my dream life that I can talk and play with animals all the time, I would like to wash them, feed them and train them to be much cleaverer. It is cool when people applause for them after they see their performance.

Ending

When the soldier opened the door, he was confused, because there sat a very beautiful lady. He looked at the princess and then he thought for a while, he knew that if he accept the fact and married the lady, he would never have a chance to love the princess and would live with sorrow for his whole life. Everyone stared at him when he slowly returned back to the front of the right door, no one knew what he wanted to do at that moment. The soldier closed the door with tears in his eyes and went to the left door straightly, the princess was shocked and stood up, she suddenly understood the soldier and knew what he wanted to do, he loved her so much that he wanted to protect the love between them, even sacrifice his life, then helpless tears suddenly filled her eyes. She tried to run to the soldier, but the king stopped her. The soldier stood in front of the left door and made up his mind to open the door, the princess shouted at him:"Don't do that, don't be stupid, please treasure your life!" But the soldier seemed to have ignored all about that and he finally put his hands on the door. Just at that emergent moment, the king stood up and said:"Wait for a moment!" Everyone was surpried and the soldier put up his hands, especially the princess was curious on his father's reaction. The king said:"I don't want to be a cold-hearted father and I don't want my daught to live with tears, actually there is nothing behind the left door and this is just a test, congratulations, young man, you did a good job!" The princess cried and gave his father a hug, then she ran to the soldier when others are applauding for them.

First Impressions

One month before, I came to LA from China where I have stayed for more than 20 years. Cold is the very first impression on LA, because I thought its temperature is much hotter than that of China, but actually it is not. Then I was surprised by the houses, in China, we usually live in an apartment which is in a tall building and you may have a lot of neighbors, but in LA, the houses are seperated from each other and most of them only have three floors at most. I really love the houses which have their own gardens with beautiful flowers and green trees in them. In addition, the houses are mostly made of wood, however, houses in China are always made of concrete. Besides, the air is fresh and the people are very friendly and warm-hearted here. Whenever I am in trouble , they give me a hand to deal with the problems, so I never feel nervous when I have some problems. Now since I have basically adapted to the life in LA, I really enjoy living and studying here, I like cooking and enjoying delicious food with my roommates, going to the beach, hanging out with friends, making new friends from all over the and knowing more different kinds of culture.

Introduction of myself

My name is Yang Zhang and you can call me yang(the same pronunciation with the term "young"). I come from China and I grew up in Jiangsu province. About three weeks ago, I came here as an exchange student. California gives me a very good impression for its beatiful beach and comfortable weather.
My family consisted of three people and I am the single child in my family. My father is a policeman and my mother is an accountant. Although it is a very normal family, we are living a happy life.
I have a lot of hobbies. I like doing some things I like to do at home, but I do not like going outside for shopping or exercising because I hate to sweat. In my spare time, I like to listen to music, play voilin, chat with my friends, and surf on the Internet. I have played voilin for almost 14 years, and it has become a very important part of my life.
